Anne Curtis proud sa pagiging ‘halfie’: This is my home, where I choose to be!

HINDI na bago ang usapin tungkol sa tinatawag na “halfies,” lalo na sa mga beauty pageant at showbiz discussions online.

Pero para sa aktres at TV host na si Anne Curtis, malinaw na ipinagmamalaki niya ang parehong dugong Australian at Filipino.

Sa isang thanksgiving presscon na in-organize ng Viva Artists Agency kung saan naimbitahan ang BANDERA, diretsahang sinagot ni Anne ang tanong tungkol sa isyung umiikot sa mixed heritage.

“I don’t even want to comment on it, I am proud to be halfie, but I am also proud of my Filipino roots. This is my home, where I choose to be,” giit niya.

Sey pa niya, “Everyone has their own opinion, but I will always be proud to be Filipino.”

Dagdag pa niya, hindi dapat ito pagtalunan pa dahil may kanya-kanya namang pananaw tungkol dito.

“Kanya kanya ‘yan—it is up to them. But for me personally, as a halfie, I am proud to be half-Australian which is my dad’s part of me. But I am also very proud to be Filipino—at kaya ako andito,” sambit niya.

“Whenever I am on the global stage, I represent the Philippines. The seat is for the Philippines. I am always proud. When they ask me where I am from, I say the Philippines. I will always be proud of that,” pagbibigay-diin pa ng celebrity mom.

Magugunitang nag-ugat ito matapos ang naging pahayag ng Filipino-American pageant titleholder na si Brandon Espiritu tungkol sa “halfies” o mixed-race Filipino contestants.

Kinuwestyon kasi siya ng isang netizen kung bakit hindi siya kumanta ng Tagalog song sa isang gathering kasama ang ibang international candidates.

Ang naging sagot niya riyan na naging isyu: “Tell that to all the front runners for the Philippines. This country wouldn’t have a chance on the national stage without us halfies.”

Dahil dito, umani siya ng batikos mula sa netizens na sinabing tila minamaliit nito ang mga full-blooded Filipino aspirants.

Sa gitna ng kontrobersiya, bumaba ang followers count ni Espiritu sa Instagram mula sa mahigit 214,000 hanggang nasa 198,000 na lamang.

Ito rin ang naging dahilan kung bakit nag-deactivate na ng social media accounts ang pageant titleholder.
