Bungad ni MRLD, "My parents never wanted me to have any bad blood or arguments with people and strangers growing up but they did teach me to fight for what's right and especially my rights if ever things start to look unfair.
"God knows how much I prayed for this day. God knows how much I cried and asked if I'm still doing the right thing at kung kaya ba talaga ako buhayin ng musika na to.
Aniya, "I'm the breadwinner of my family. Last year wasn't the best year for us because a lot of things went south. 2 of my sisters are still in school.
I deserve more than 5% of the songs I wrote and produced. I deserve more for all the hardwork.
"I put on for my name.
"I didn't go independent because I'm selfish and want revenge. I WENT INDEPENDENT BECAUSE MY FAMILY NEEDS TO EAT AND LIVE. Di kami mabubuhay sa barya lang.
"I asked several times for a meeting but it's always a no show. The expiration of my contract came and you come huddling as if I owe you something?
Numbers don't lie.
"I know what was written in my contract. I know my percentage share. Ako nakakatanggap ng pera ko. Pinapalabas nyo pang sinungaling kaming mga artist hahaha.
"Please do support independent artists, and sa mga label jan, alaagan nyo artists nyo mga tao din 'yan. Wag n'yo tipirin sila, nag papayaman sa inyo. Respect the hussle and the art.
"I'm releasing my own songs very soon. Please do support me. Back to zero to sakin! At mas gagalingan ko pa magpakilala sa buong mundo. Salamat."
"This is a personal reflection only. Views are my own and do not necessarily reflect those of the company I work for.
"Been working in a record label for quite some time now. I've seen artists fly, and I've seen artists fail. I've seen many songs and albums released with so much hope behind them—only for most of them to quietly disappear, while only a few become hits.
"So, whenever the conversation about royalties comes up, especially when artists feel exploited because labels get a huge chunk, I understand where that sentiment is coming from.
Artists pour their creativity, emotions, and identity into their work, and it's only right that they want to protect and value what they create.
"But working behind the scenes all these years has also shown me another side that people rarely see.
"A record label is not just 'the owners.' It's road managers who travel endlessly with the artists. It's PR and marketing teams pitching day and night. It's photographers, graphic designers, producers, A&R, and many others who spend countless hours helping build and sustain a career.
"For every song that becomes a hit, there are many others that don't. But the people behind the scenes still worked just as hard on all of them.
"The music industry has always been an eco7system—artists, managers, creatives, and label teams all trying to make something work in a very unpredictable business.
"Sometimes the spotlight only shows the artist and the royalty percentage. But behind every release is a whole team hoping the song reaches the people it was meant for," buong pahayag ni James.
