PINAGMULTA ng P20,000 ng Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Commissioner's Office si Calvin Abueva dahil sa malisyosong pahayag laban sa mga referee.

Hindi pinalampas ng management ng PBA ang sinabi ni Abueva na "pumaldo" umano ang mga naging referee sa laro ng Barangay Ginebra San Miguel at ng Converge FiberXers sa Araneta Coliseum noong Linggo, March 29.

Kabilang si Calvin Abueva, na binansagang "The Beast" ng PBA sa Convege FiberXers na pinatumba ng Barangay Ginebra San Miguel sa naturang bakbakan.

Sa isang viral video na kuha pagkatapos ng nasabing laro, maririnig na sinabi ni Abueva ang mga katagang, "Paldo, paldo—apat. Apat silang paldo."

Pinaniniwalaang ang tinutukoy ng cager na "apat" ay ang mga referee na nag-officiate ng basketball match sa pagitan ng Barangay Ginebra San Miguel at Converge FiberXers.

Narito ang official statement ng PBA Commissioner's Office na pirmado ni PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial, pagkatapos ipatawag si Abueva para kunin ang panig nito.

"This refers to the conference we had this afternoon at the PBA Office in connection with your actuations after your game versus the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel on March 29, 2026 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

"Immediately following the final buzzer of the game, while on your way to your team's locker room, you were recorded by members of the media shouting ,'paldo ang 4 na referees.'

"The said short video immediately went 'viral' on social media. Such a malicious and unfounded accusation against our referees cannot go unpunished.

"Your irresponsible statement is tantamount to conduct detrimental to the best interests of the league.

"During our subsequent meeting, you apologized to the undersigned and assured us that this incident will not be repeated.

"In view of the foregoing, you are hereby fined the amount of TWENTY THOUSAND PESOS (P20,000.00). Said amount shall be remitted to this Office within fifteen days upon receipt hereof."

Ipinost ito ni Abueva sa Facebook at nilagyan ng caption na, "Bwahaha baka maunahan pa ayan paldo na" with matching face with tears of joy emojis.

Nireplayan din ng PBA player ang comment ng isang netizen na "bobo" siya. Bwelta niya rito, "Aki bobo? Kayo na ang bobo. Alam n'yo guys, kung bobo ako, wala ako sa PBA."

Aniya pa, "Hintayin ninyo ang pagbabalik ko. Hintayin ninyo lang. Bigyan ninyo ako ng timing."

Kasunod nito, nagsalita rin si Abueva tungkol kay PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial, "Si Kume, idol yan. Mabait yan. Wala akong masabi.

"Ginagawa lang niya ang trabaho niya bilang commissioner. Pero si Kume, wala po ako masabi diyan. Saludo po ako diyan. Boss, sorry po."
