Women’s Month: Yasmien Kurdi sa kababaihan: ‘Know your rights, break the silence!’

INSPIRASYON ang hatid ng Kapuso actress na si Yasmien Kurdi sa mga kababaihan ngayong International Women's Month!

Sa pamamagitan ng kanyang latest Instagram post, hinikayat niya ang mga kababaihan na ipaglaban ang kanilang karapatan at huwag matakot magsalita.

Bukod sa pagiging aktres, abala rin ngayon si Yasmien sa pagtupad ng pangarap na maging abogado. 

Kasalukuyan siyang kumukuha ng law degree sa Arellano University, kung saan nagtapos din siya ng Bachelor's Degree in Political Science bilang Magna Cum Laude noong 2019.

Sa IG, proud ibinandera ni Yasmien na natapos na niya ang unang exam ng semestre.

Naging espesyal raw sa kanya ito dahil tungkol sa gender sensitivity at karapatan ng kababaihan.

"One of my favorite subjects in law school is Gender Sensitivity and Laws on Women and Children's Rights and I also submitted my reaction paper on the Supreme Court's Legal Feminism in Philippine Gender Jurisprudence today [purple jeart emoji]," sey ni Yasmien.

Dagdag pa niya, "Legal feminism in Philippine jurisprudence reflects the lived realities of Filipinas, our struggles through the years, the voices that were once silenced, and our continuing fight for dignity and equality."

Ipinunto rin ni Yasmien na marami nang batas sa Pilipinas na naglalayong protektahan ang kababaihan. 

Kabilang dito ang Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act, Magna Carta of Women, Safe Spaces Act o Bawal Bastos Law, at Anti-Sexual Harassment Act. 

Para kay Yasmien, hindi lang sa mga batas nasusukat ang hustisya kundi sa tapang at kwento ng bawat babae.

"Sana ngayong Buwan ng Kababaihan, magsilbing itong paalala sa lahat na ang hustisya ay hindi lamang nakasulat sa mga batas. Ito ay nabubuhay sa mga kwento, katatagan, at tapang ng kababaihan saanman sa mundo," sambit niya.

Mensahe pa niya, "Women, please do continue to challenge systems. Do not let others dictate who you should be or how you should live. Set your boundaries, know your rights, break the silence, and claim the equality we deserve."

Sa huli, buong tapang niyang idineklara:"BABAE AKO! Bakit? May problema ba? HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S MONTH!"

Bago pa man sumabak sa law school, aktibo na si Yasmien sa iba't ibang larangan bukod sa pag-arte. 

Noong 2024, tinupad niya ang hilig sa pagluluto matapos makumpleto ang Part-Time Certificate Program in Pastry & Bakery Arts sa Academy of Pastry and Culinary Arts.

Bukod dito, pinasok na rin niya ang mundo ng panitikan para sa kabataan, kung saan nakipagtulungan siya sa broadcast journalist na si Nelson Canlas sa paggawa ng librong pambata na "Si Jose at ang Mahiwagang Taguri," na naglalayong magbigay-kamalayan laban sa bullying.
